Scotland’s highest-situated whisky distillery, Dalwhinnie, stands on the edge of Strathspey on the Drumochter mountain pass. The whisky distillery was founded in the 1890s; in 1898, Strathspey was renamed Dalwhinnie. The whisky is golden in colour; the extremely aromatic scent has nuances of peat smoke and shades of malt and fruit. The taste of the whisky is sweet, slightly oily and mild, reminiscent of honey and flowers. The finish is malty and heather-flavoured (heather honey is also mentioned on the bottle label).
