‘Urquell’ means ‘original source’ in German. It is the first golden transparent beer in the world to be bottled in a glass container at the time when tin and ceramic beer jugs were used. The first tasting of Pilsner Urquell took place on November 11, 1842 at the Saint Martin Fair.
