Alexander Gordon started developing the recipe for flawless gin in 1769 in a distillery established in London. He had high standards, using only the best natural ingredients and testing all kinds of different distillation methods. He even built his distillery in Southwark, London, which was well known for its excellent, clean water supply.

The success of Gordon’s gin lies in the perfect combination of pure distilled grain spirit and rich botanicals. All additives are natural: juniper berries, coriander, liquorice, parsley root, lemon peel, orange peel, and cinnamon. Of course, the exact recipe of Gordon’s is a secret known only to the Gin Masters of the company who have kept this secret, passed on generation after generation, for 250 years.

The distinctive square-faced, green bottle for the UK market was introduced in the beginning of the 20th century. Around the same time, the distillery got its first big order, which was to be sent to Australia. To mark the occasion, they designed a new export label, put it on the green bottle, and realised that it looked overly bold for a gin with serious credentials. The label was thus then paired with clear glass and the famous clear export bottle was born!

When the cocktail culture took off in the 1920s, people were not really sure how to make cocktails correctly. Thus, in 1924, Gordon’s launched the first Cocktail Shaker – Gordon's Martini Cocktail – which became widely popular. This perfectly demonstrates the innovation of Gordon’s distillery and their ability to keep up with the times.

WHY GORDON’S?

Natural
Gordon’s gin is flavoured with oil extracted from real juniper berries – this distinguishes Gordon’s from many other gins where synthetic additives are used instead of natural flavourings.

High quality
The world’s most expensive juniper berries are used to make Gordon’s Dry gin – only the finest 10% of the handpicked harvest is selected and then dried for two years to achieve the ideal balance of essential oils.

Ideal for cocktails
Gordon’s is the favourite of all cocktail lovers thanks to its authenticity and excellent taste. Perhaps this is their key to success.
